About this speaker
Stephen Hummel works at The University of Texas' McDonald Observatory to protect science and outreach efforts from the impacts of light pollution, radio frequency interference and space debris.
In 2022 Stephen helped to create the Greater Big Bend International Dark Sky Reserve, the largest area in the world where the night sky is protected. In his spare time he is also an accomplished astrophotographer with a specialty in capturing transient luminous events, or TLEs.
